Nangutanan an mga Pareseo sanan an mga tiguyang kan Jesus bilang mga gamhanan na mga tawo sa komunidad.

Gusto nila hibay-an kon diin Nidja nakuha an Idja poder.

The chief priests and elders ask questions to Jesus as people who have authority in their community.

They want to know where Jesus gets his authority.

Authority is connected with external signs and symbols of power and knowledge in our present times.

We study to gain a degree and have authority in a particular area or we are promoted into a position of authority in our work or ministry.

But the authority of Jesus is not of our world.

It comes from within and in relationship with God.

Father God, let us learn to trust our inner authority, our relationship with You, Amen.

Puno nan balor an mga pagbasa nato kuman.

An mensahe nan konsolasyon gikan sa Diyos sanan an saad na madadjaw ra pag-utro an tanan.

Tagpresenta sab dato ebanghelyo si John the Baptist bilang nagpatupad nan misyon - an pagproklama kan Jesus bilang Christ, an moabot sunod didja.

Lord, nangaliya kami para sa grasya nan pagsalig na parehas kan Isaiah sanan pagkamapahi-ubsanon ni John the Baptist, sanan an amo permanente na pagka-mapasalamaton, Amen.

Our readings for today are full of richness.

First, Isaiah points out his mission as received from God.

The message of consolation from God and a promise that everything will be rebuilt.

He also relates the thanksgiving of the prophet on behalf of the people.

Paul in the second reading encourages us to be joyful, to pray and to give thanks.

He calls on the people to hold on to what is good and to stay away from evil, assuring them that Jesus is trustworthy.

Our gospel presents John the Baptist as fulfilling his mission - that of proclaiming Jesus as the Christ, the one coming after him.

Lord, we pray for the grace to have the faithfulness of Isaiah and the humility of John the Baptist, and to be forever grateful, Amen.

Jesus, pabalika ra kami Dimo kon mangawaya kami sanan ipakita damo an Imo wayong, Amen.

Our gospel for today is a description of the Transfiguration

The evangelist pictures the conversation of the three disciples and Jesus have as they come down the mountain.

The disciples saw Jesus in all His shining glory and understandably they were frightened.

We note how Jesus reacts to their fear.

He understands.

He comes to them and touches them.

We see this touching all through the gospels.

His touch is life-giving, encouraging and loving.

But Jesus reminded them how John was killed by his enemies and that He would be too.

Jesus, keep bringing us back to You when we drift away and let Your face shine on us, Amen.

2008-12-12 friday

In today’s reading, Jesus is saying, ‘You can’t win.

No matter what you do, someone will criticise’.

This came to mind when reading some of the reactions to Pope Benedict’s apology in Sydney to people who had been sexually abused by members of the clergy.

His apology was an honest, humble expression of shame and sorrow, of concern for the suffering of victims and determination that perpetrators be punished.

He followed this with a private meeting and Mass with four victims, commenting that tendencies towards abusive behaviour should be detected and stopped at seminary level.

Much of the media, however, focused on the anger of other victims and their families who criticized the apology and the private meeting.

Jesus, help those whose grief is still so raw and anger so great that healing and peace fail them.

Heal your church of this evil which has caused so much suffering.

If it were possible to sum up Advent spirituality in one word that word would be expectancy.

As human beings we are always reaching out towards a future with hope.

For that reason Jesus could say of his cousin, John the Baptist, ‘I tell you solemnly, of all the children born of woman, a greater than John the Baptist has never been seen’.

John deserved to be spoken of in such words because he ushered in the era when the rich compassion of our kind and merciful God would express itself in the gift of his son to our world.

In this new era, the least of us is the equal of John the Baptist because his expectations were met.

The light of Christ now shines upon us and our world.

The Lord is a magnificent creator of all things, including all of us.

It is in our best interest to be innately aware of the Lord in every day of our lives and in all that we do.

The Lord shows us things. He tells us things. He directs our lives.

The Lord lifts us to the heights of an eagle. He pulls us out of great troughs.

It is the Lord alone who rescues the frightened, redirects the directionless, comforts the sick and calms the scattered mind.

But we need to have the faith to allow the Lord into our minds, bodies and souls.

Without the Lord, we cannot fly as high, challenge as courageously, defend as hard or have the energy we never thought we had.

Lord, we ask you to be with us always.

‘He is like a shepherd, gathering the lambs in his arms …’

Returning from a war zone, the soldier stepped through the arrivals lounge, into four sets of loving arms.

He was embraced by his wife, handed his new baby, a toddler circled his legs and his little daughter hung onto his remaining arm, tears glistening on her cheeks.

Arms that had waited so long for his safe return now hugged him with joy.

In that entwined moment, the soldier and his family were transformed and happy.

They became a whole unit, secure and newly empowered by their love for each other.

Our arms can be used in the myriad ways of care, encouragement and mutual acceptance.

At times a good hug says all the words that are needed.

As life evolves, parts of us wander away, lost and alone.

It is possible to become frightened and disoriented.

We hold on to the parable of the lost lamb and know that he is especially there for the most wayward.

We call on him and he will hold us in strong and tender arms.

Jesus, our shepherd, you are there for us with unconditional love, waiting to lead us back to a state of wholeness.

"Lord Jesus, nothing escapes your watchful gaze and care."

"May I always walk in the light of your truth and never stray from your loving presence."

Do you want to live a grace-filled life?

The angel Gabriel salutes Mary as "full of grace".

To become the mother of the Savior, Mary was enriched by God with gifts to enable her to assume this awesome role.

There is a venerable tradition among many Christians, dating back to the early church, for honoring Mary as the spotless virgin who bore the Son of God in her womb.

A number of early church fathers link Mary's obedience to this singular grace of God.

"Being obedient she became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race."

"The knot of Eve's disobedience was united by Mary's obedience: what the virgin Eve bound through her disbelief, Mary loosened by her faith."

John the Baptist was more than a prophet .

He was the voice of the one calling in the desert telling us to prepare the way of the Lord.

He completed the cycle of prophets begun by Elijah.

What the prophets had carefully searched for and angels longed to see, now came to completion as John made the way ready for the coming of the Messiah, God's Annointed Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

With John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit begins the restoration to the human race of the "divine likeness", prefiguring what would be achieved with and in the Lord Jesus.

John's baptism was for repentance -- turning away from sin and taking on a new way of life according to God's word.

Our baptism in Jesus Christ by water and the Spirit results in a new birth and entry into God's kingdom as his beloved sons and daughters.

Jesus is ready to give us the fire of his Spirit that we may radiate the joy and truth of the gospel to a world in desperate need of God's light and truth.

His word has power to change and transform our lives that we may be lights pointing others to Christ.

Like John the Baptist, we too are called to give testimony to the light and truth of Jesus Christ.

Do you point others to Christ in the way you live, work, and speak?

"Lord, let your light burn brightly in my heart that I may know the joy and freedom of your kingdom."

"Fill me with your Holy Spirit and empower me to witness the truth of your gospel and to point others to Jesus Christ."

Do not provide yourself with gold or silver.

Jesus sent His Apostles out on missions, in the same way as He sends us now.

But He wants us to travel light. With too much commercialism, many of us do not live by His message .

We have more than enough food in our refrigerators, clothes in our closets, books on our shelves, and money in our pockets. We are very lucky to be so provided.

However we have these provisions share and benefit others.

Can we use this Advent to reflect on our values and just ask ourselves what our idols are, learn to live closer to the gospel with no gold or silver, no soldier's bag for the journey?

Father, give us hearts full of generousity so that we can share our blessings to others, Amen.

readings for today, friday 2008-12-05

The blind men in our gospel today had already the gift of faith when before they asked Jesus to have pity on them.

Their faith deserved Jesus' healing when they were asked if they believed that He can heal them.

Like the many people in the gospels, the blind men have to persevere in following Jesus until they received his reply.

When our friends and relatives ask us for prayers for special intentions and we persevere, we are confident that our prayers are heard in the way that we hoped.

We know that our prayers give us access to Jesus and that is the most important thing.

He gives us interior sight into his mind and heart, strength and light for our way.

Jesus, give me the grace to be ready to receive Your many good gifts in a way that gives glory to You, Amen.

After what You said about people who call you ‘Lord,' I feel ashamed about being here praying, Lord.

But there is still the rest of the day for me to act.

You are telling me about my being on a shaky ground if my Christian commitment only goes as deep as my words.

I feel a little embarrassed when I realized just how cheap it is to talk, to espouse values, even to pray.

Even concrete edifices do not last very long hence if I want something more enduring, it will cost me so dearly.

I just pray I can bear the cost.

Father, may we be able endure even if it will cost us so dearly, Lord, Amen.

Jesus manifested His compassion for the sick and the disabled who people brought and laid at his feet.

He cured them and spoke to the people who had been following him for three days and would have been hungry.

The apostles who were very practical men, wanted him to send them away.

They had only seven loaves and a few small fish.

And Jesus worked the great miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, feeding four thousand men, women and children.

Our Lord cares very much about human need.

He wants us to care too.

He gives us himself in the Holy Mass to encourage us to share with others.

Lord Jesus, let us be compassionate like You, Amen.

Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit.

What was it that was making Jesus so happy?

Can we share in it?

It looks as though Jesus was enjoying a moment of success.

He had succeeded in communicating.

He was content with the acceptance of His loving message by His humble disciples.

He could see that they were being given a treasure that kings and other great people had missed out on.

Here is the oneness with God which the love of His Father was offering to humanity.

They already possessed it.

We possess it.

Jesus, help us own this treasure to love You which You are giving us, Amen.

The centurion did not supposedly deserve to ask a favor from Jesus because he was a Roman, adversaries to the Jews.

However, he was very determined to get near to Jesus and ask Him heal his ailing servant because he firmly believed it was only Jesus who could straighten the paralyzed man who was home.

At first, the invitation was for Jesus to go his place to heal the servant but the centurion hesitated probably because he felt ashamed for he did not deserve Jesus' visit thus he just requested Him that He just say the words and his servant will be healed.

This is the faith that our Lord wants us to have, a faith in Him that even an apparent impossible thing could happen because of our belief in Him.

Jesus commended the Roman because he possessed true and deep faith in the Lord - a reason to compare the centurion with the Jews.

Do we, accepted children of God, also have true and deep faith in our Lord?

Lord, open our minds so that we can readily receive the graces that you constantly bestow on us everyday, Amen.

Today is first day of the Church's new year, the time of Advent.

This is the time for us to start preparing ourselves for the coming of our Christ of Christmas with open hearts to all that He wants us to do for Him.

Come to think of it: we are not deserving to wait for His coming because we still have a lot of thins that we do not want to change in our lives.

But just the same, we are exhorted to wait for His coming and be changed so that we become worthy of His presence upon His arrival.

However, we still have our Herods in us that want to thwart His arrival because we still have a lot of bad things in us that we do not want to change.

Thus, we have to thoroughly prepare ourselves and our hearts through our being changed and repentant of our sins in our four-week preparation of Advent so that we will be deserving to wait for our Christ Who will be born on Christmas.

Father, strengthen us till the end so that we will not regret on the day of the arrival of our Lord Jesus, Amen.

The Lord warns us not to succumb to the snares of vices, drunkenness and the daily tribulations in our lives.

He warns us purposely to prepare us so that we would be able to anticipate His second coming to judge us.

These warnings are compared to a trap that catches us by surprise thus we have to always be vigilant and ready by regularly praying daily to prepare us and evade from the consequences and eventually see Him face-to-face on the Day of His Judgment.

The world is full of vices and daily human tribulation because these are parts of the test that He wants us to pass so that we can prepare ourselves when the Day of Judgment comes.

Are we presently facing problems and anxieties of life so that we pray to God for His help?

My God, give us strength so that we can face the tests in our lives thus we could prepare ourselves for the day of Your coming to judge us, Amen.

We do not know the day and time when the Lord will come again in glory.

But the He gives us signs, not only to wake us up as a warning, but also to rouse our spirits to be ready to see His Kingdom come in all Its power and glory.

Those who reject God and His Kingdom of righteousness will suffer on that day, but those who long to see the Lord face-to-face will marvel that day of joy and rejoicing.

The Lord wants us to be filled with joyful anticipation for his coming again.

He surely comes to us each day and speaks to our hearts.

As he promised, the Lord will surely come again in all His glory.

Do we look for the signs pointing to the Lord's return and do we pray that he come quickly to establish peace and justice on the earth?

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the beginning and the end of all history, and the Lord of all creation, give us joyful hope and confidence that we will see you face to face when you return in glory, Amen.

Our readings for today speak of the great destruction and the pain on earth before Jesus comes back - something we already knew since then.

Have we prepared ourselves to greet Him whenever he comes and appears to us even if we are facing great tribulations?

We might wonder whether we are worthy of His invitation to the wonderful celebration of His coming.

What must we do to ensure that we have a place in the life after death?

In the book of Revelations, we are exhorted to hold to the truth that we are blessed because we are called to the wedding feast of the Lamb.

While we await Jesus' reappearance, we can invoke Him in many great or small ways.

We just have to call His name and keep repeating our prayers until we gradually discern his close and gentle presence in our lives.

readings for tomorrow, wednesday

We have to experience persecution if we want to have a godly life in Jesus our Christ.

The Lord wants us also to expect persecutions.

This expectation prepares and arms us for spiritual warfare and we are certain that Christ will help us because He loves us.

He will give us His wisdom so that we can face our adversaries.

God wants us to face persecutions, treacheries and adveristies because of His name.

But He promised us protection hence we have to remain steadfast to attain salvation.

Father, judge me worthy to be persecuted, Amen.

Tagpasidan-an sila na dili kon signus lamang an hanapon nila kondili an kaharian nan Diyos.

readings for tomorrow, tuesday

The Jewish people took great pride in the temple at Jerusalem, a marvel of the ancient world, but Jesus prophesied its destruction.

The foretelling of this destruction was a dire judgment in itself.

They sought Jesus for a sign that would indicate when this would occur.

He admonished them to not seek signs but rather to seek God's kingdom.

He said that there will be plenty of signs – such as wars, famines, diseases, tidal waves and earthquakes – pointing to God's ultimate judgment.

They were again admonished not to be deceived by those who would use His name when "the time has come" and not follow them.

The bottom line of all these is Jesus' exhortation for us to prepare and be ready for in the very soonest time, Judgment Day is inevitable.

Have we readied ourselves to face our Great Judge when "the time has come?"

Father, may we not condemn ourselves to hell, but let You love us, Amen.

mga pagbasa kuman, lunes

Waya huna-hunaa nan bayo an kantidad na inhatag; an importante na naghatag sidja gikan sa idja kasing-kasing.

Uyayod gadjod sidja na bisan an isa ka kosing bastante na unta para didja, pero inhatag pa gadjod nidja an tanan.

readings for today, monday

The amount the widow gave did not matter; what was important was that she gave her heart.

She didn’t have much and one coin would have been enough, but she gave everything she had.

The widow forgot herself to the point of giving away to the poor everything she had to live on, thinking only of the life to come.

The others gave of their abundance but she - even poorer, perhaps, than many of the poor – for her whole fortune resided in two small coins - she it was who carried in her heart more wealth than many of the wealthy.

She looked only at the riches of the eternal reward.

In her desire for heavenly treasure, she gave up all she possessed as being goods that come from the earth and return to the earth.

She gave what she had in order to possess what she did not as yet see.

This poor little lady had not forgotten the means foreseen and arranged by our Lord for acquiring the future reward.

Have we prepared ourselves like the widow did so that the Lord will not forget us in our desire to acquire His reward?

Lord, give me a generous heart so that I would be able to give my all for Your glory and magnificence, Amen.

readings for today, sunday
(The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King)

What's the point of this story for us?

The kind of life we choose to live now and the moral choices we make will have consequences that determine our future – for better or for worse.

Separation is an inevitable consequence of judgment.

The Day of Judgement will reveal who showed true compassion and mercy toward their neighbor.

As much as we might like to judge the parables, the parables, nonetheless, judge us.

Jesus teaches us a very important lesson about loving our neighbor and taking responsibility for others.

God will judge us not only for the wrong we have done but also for what we have failed to do.

Now is the time of God’s mercy, for seeking his help and grace to turn away from sin, and to walk in his way of love.

Ask the Holy Spirit to purify your heart that you may love as God loves and live charitably with all.

Lord Jesus Christ, you are my King and there is no other. May your love rule in my heart that I may think and act with charity towards all, Amen.

readings yesterday, saturaday

The minds of the Sadducees have already been dead set that there is no resurrection

The question about resurrection that they asked Jesus was not really meant for them to learn more information on the subject but to expect a ridiculous situation if ever Jesus could not answer them well on their question.

Heaven for the Sadducees is here and now on earth hence they do not believe in the life everlasting, nor on angels and on evil spirits.

But the truth has been written in the Bible that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob during their respective times is still the same God that we have in this age and until the end of time.

We are led by the Holy Spirit to see the truth of the everlasting love of God and His everlasting life that He wants us to have.

Do we still doubt that God prepares us to have an everlastintg life with Him?

Holy Spirit, because You made me Your dwelling place each day, I have learned that there is really a need for me to prapare myself for an everlasting life, Amen.

readings for today, friday

The traders and the money changers were driven out by Jesus in the temple at Jerusalem.

Jesus was upset with them because they made the temple a den of thieves.

And this is the only incident in the Gospels where we see Jesus using physical force.

I think it only meant to became a warning to the people that God really takes our worship very seriously.

In this incident we see Jesus' startling and swift action in cleansing the temple of those who were using it to exploit the worshipers of God.

We have seen the money changers taking advantage of the poor and forcing them to pay many times more than was right – in the house of God no less!

Their robbery of the poor was not only dishonoring God but rendering unjustly toward their neighbors.

Despite the objections of the religious leaders because Jesus was listened to by the people daily in the the temple, they regarded Him with great awe and respect.

If we also listen to God's word with humble and attentive hearts and with a willingness to be taught, then we are in a good place to allow His words to change and transform us in the likeness of Christ.

The Lord wants to teach us his ways so that we may also grow in holiness.

Do we allow God's word to transform us in His way of love and holiness?

Lord, You also dwell with us here on earth everyday, please let us act holy, love truly and walk humbly with You, Amen.

Pinaagi sab kan Kristo, mahimo an tawo na templo nan Espiritu Santo.

Tagbisitahan nan Diyos an tawo nan an una pa sanan padadjon pa gihapon pagbisita Sidja dato kuman pinaagi nan Idja mga regalo sanan an mga taghimo na Espiritu Santo para dato.

Ato ba tagkilaya an adlaw-adlaw na pagbisita nan Diyos sa ato kinabuhi kuman?

Ginoo ko, himoa ako na instrumento para hikilay-an 'Kaw nan tawo kay Imo man kami tagpuno nan Imo gugma, mga grasya sanan mga regalo kada adlaw, Amen.

readings for today, thursday

What might be the reason for Jesus' weeping and lamentation over the city of Jerusalem.

Jeremiah's prophesy during his time on the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple was echoed by Jesus' weeping and lamentation also.

At the arrival of Jesus, the prophet sent by God to Jerusalem, people did not accept Him in the city because of their pride and lack of faith and for these reasons, they did not believe Him.

Their lack of faith and their disbelief to the Messiah Who was sent by God have been the causes of the devastation and destruction of the city which was in the mind of Jesus.

But the effect of weeping and lamentation was also the reason of mercy and love of God to all and He sent His only Son, Jesus, His living temple Who redeems the sins of the world.

Through Christ, man becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit.

The visitation of God during the olden times is the same visitation that He does to us now through His gifts and the things that the Holy Spirit does for us.

Do we welcome the daily visitation of God in our lives?

My God, shape me as Your instrument to make people realize that You always fill us with Your love, grace and gifts everyday, Amen.

readings for today, wednesday

The parable in last Sunday's gospel was almost the same with what we have today.

The theme of the story is the same: trust of the master to his servants.

While the master was on travel, his trust and confidence to the servants are tested through the disposition of the money that he entrusted them.

At his return from travel, he rewarded the faithful servants with higher responsibilities but he punished the inutile one because of his inability to think on ways and means how the money entrusted him makes profits.

Jesus offered us a kingdom of justice, love and peace by calling us to live in an atmosphere where He is Lord and King.

Jesus' death on the cross becomes the salvation of our sins against God.

It is for this reason that He untrusted to us the gifts and the graces that He gave us, with the accompanying freedom so that we can be responsible in using them for the lives that conform with God's plans for us.

God abhors irresponsible people because what He wants are men and women who could be entrusted and responsible in using the graces and gifts that He bestows on them.

Lord Jesus, guide my heart and mind through Your Holy Spirit so that I can perfectly use the gifts, grace, time, and resources that You gave me for Your glory and magnificence, Amen.

Sa idja kagamay, dili hikit-an ni Zaqueo si Jesus sa Idja tagpanawan kay duro man an mga tawo na makasalimod didja.

Makagagahom na Ama, ihatag dako an Imo grasya, Lord, pinaagi nan Imo Espiritu para nako hikit-an an Imo taggadjang na kaluwasan para sa tanan, Amen.

our readings for today, tuesday

His being short prevented Zaccheus to see Jesus walking on the road because of the great crowd along with Him.

Thus he decided to ran ahead of the crowd and then he climbed the sycamore tree to have a good view of Jesus.

But Jesus told him to go down so that he could join Him in walking toward his house to eat.

The crowd started to grumble why Jesus befriended a sinner.

But for Zaccheus, because he was so excited, thrilled and happy to a have a friend in a Master, he promised to give half of his wealth to the poor.

Outrightly, Jesus declared that from then on, all the people living in the house of Zaccheus will share the salvation offered by God.

How does the story of Zaccheus affect our individual lives?

For me, true conversion through repentance and faith with the accompanying reparation on the wrongdoings caught my attention to reflect on.

Truly, there is a need for us to be ready to receive the manifestations of the purpose of Jesus' birth for the salvation of our sins.

Almighty Father, give me Your grace, Lord, through Your Spirit, so that I can see the salvation that You offer to all of us, Amen.

readings for today , monday

The blind man, Bartimaeus, is determined to get near to Jesus Whom he believed to have the power to heal his blindness.

He did not mind on the consequence of disturbing the crowd when he shouted the name of the Son of David.

This is the only opportunity for him to ask a favor from the Messiah even if he could disturb the folks around Jesus.

On His part, Jesus also gave this blind man a chance by calling him and asking him what He will do to him.

The situation clearly manifests that God really listens to the pleas of persons who ask for His time.

Jesus commends Bartimaeus because of his acknowledgment of God's power and mercy.

Bartimaeus' expression of gratitude to Jesus is not only for the gift of faith and the gift of physical sight that he received from Christ but also for his opportunity to be able to follow the Lord as His disciple.

Are we also grateful to God that He gave us eyes of faith for us to be able to know Him as our Lord and Healer?

Lord, give me the grace to be able to see you through my deep faith in You, Amen.

Uno man kaha na sa sambingay kuman sa ebanghelyo mahitungod man sa pagsalig nan negosyante nan idja kabtangan sa iban na mga tawo adeser sidja molangyaw?

readings for today, sunday

Why did Jesus tell this parable which tackles on trust of the master to his servants before he goes on travel?

What probably matters here is our being servants of God so that we may realize and do the responsibilities of our being Christians.

The parable primarily tells us about the trust of the master to his servants because he is traveling to a far place for a time.

We could not imagine a person trusting his business to people with whom he does not know personally but the point here is his trust to the three servants was there because he was pretty sure that they will do their jobs even if he was not around.

Thus it was just on the perception of the servants on their responsibilities based on the trust that they individually enjoy.

It all depended on their management style on the investments entrusted them -- the money entrusted to the two doubled-up because they indulge into profitable businesses, but the third servant just buried his supposed to be investment money because he was afraid that he be blamed if the business fails.

What the third servant did was irresponsible becuase he can not expect his buried money to gain any profit albeit money will not grow on soil.

If it were a seed of a fruit, there was a possiblity for it to grow and bear another fruits because this is nature's way.

Thus we, being Christians, have to strive hard in nurturing the spiritual lives that He entrusted us for this is what He wants of us and in this way, we can also prepare our lives for the everlasting life with Him in heaven.

Lord, You taught us that Your day will come like a thief in the night thus give us the grace, Lord, to prepare us for our everlasting life with You in heaven, Amen.

Bisan pa gani an maldito na huwes nohatag dadjon nan idja desisyon base sa pagsamok-samok nan babadje, uno pa kaha an ato Diyos kon wayay hunong kita mangaliya Didja.

our readings fro today, saturday

What will you do if one person keeps on approaching you daily to ask a favor from you?

He keeps on pestering you daily because he has not taken the thing that wants from you yet.

You will surely think of a strategy how to dispose of this recalcitrant person because you do not want to be pestered always.

In our gospel today, we can see the unwilling judge who is dismayed by the frequent bothering of the widow thus he eventually gave in to her request for a decision in her case.

But the lesson that our gospel teaches us today is to encourage us to pray unceasingly without becoming weary.

It does not mean that God grants our prayers because He is disturbed but He only wants us to pray without becoming weary and in an unceasingly manner.

Even the wicked judge immediately rendered his decision because of the botherings of the woman, how much more with our God if we do not cease on praying to Him.

My God, give me the grace to be able to have a dialogue with You through my praise and worship, thanksgiving and suplication on my petitions everyday, Amen.

Kon dili nato mahimo an mga sugo nan Diyos para dato, buot ipasabot na dili sab mapasa-ato sa ato mga kasing-kasing an Ama sanan an Anak.

Tag-imbitar sab kita kuman sa ato salmo pinaagi nan pag-proklamar na an kalipay an ato madawat kon mosunod lamang kita sa balaod nan Ginoo.

Nahibayo man kita na taghigugma kita karadjaw nan Diyos -- tagtawag kita para higugma-on sab Sidja.

our readings for today, friday

In our first reading which is taken from the second letter of St. John, he exhorts the early followers of Christ to live a life of love.

He tells them to live their lives according to the commandments of God.

This life is what St. John wants us to have also in this present times of ours.

If we fail to do this, it means that we can not have the Father and the Son with us.

We are also encouraged in our psalm today by proclaiming happiness for us in following the law of the Lord.

We know that God loves us very much -- He calls us to love Him also.

For us to have the Father and the Son for all eternity, we need to follow the law of the Lord and happiness will be ours.

We pray to God that He gives us the grace to meet the challenges that we face each day.

Lord, give us the grace so that we may be able to face all the earthly problems and the daily challenges in our Christian lives, Amen.

readings for today, thursday

Onesimus, a slave and a prisoner who is also a Gentile, and Philemon, the master and owner of Onesimus and a Jew, were led by Paul to the Lord.

Onesimus, a very poor slave who was sold to Philemon and a prisoner is very much of an opposite to Philemon, a very rich Jew who bought Onesimus for a slave.

But they both accepted the invitaton to become Christians and be near to God through the evangelization of Paul.

Paul must be mysterious because he was able to lead these two persons of different social status to our God.

He must have a virtue in him because they were persuaded to listen to him and even as he went around, he was able to convert many people to Christianity as he announced the good news of salvation.

The most important thing in what he did for the Kingdom of God is that the Holy Spirit was always with him all the time to guide him in everything that he did.

We can also do our own evangelization as commanded to us if we ask God that He send His Spirit to us so that we can do the things that He wants us to do for His glory.

Why don't we try to start now to spread the good news of our Lord to others!

Lord, implant in my heart the courage that I need so that I can lead other people to Your kingdom, Amen.

readings for today, wednesday

If we try to imagine the scene in our gospel, we can see the ten men from afar who are infected with the dreaded leprosy shouting and asking Jesus to heal them from their disease.

True enough, Jesus manifested His grace and mercy by healing the ailments of the men who asked help from Him.

But what happend was, of the ten men who asked for healing Jesus, only one came back to express his gratuitude as he glorified Jesus despite his being a Samaritan, a person supposedly being despised by Jews at that time.

Thus Jesus asked what had happend to the other nine who have also been recepients of the grace and mercy of God but only one came back, a Samaritan at that.

In our lives, we should always have a grateful hearts that express thanksgiving and praises to God because He always fills our lives with blessings and graces and mercy for the sins that we have committed against Him.

And faith should also be in our hearts always so that the constant grace that comes from God will always be with us.

Lord God, teach me to be grateful for all the blessings and graces that you always bestow on me everyday, Amen.
