They took offense at him

Today's Readings

The rejection Jesus suffered at Nazareth was a tragedy. He had grown up there and must have known many townspeople. When he spoke at the synagogue they listened to him at first, but they could not accept him and ended up trying to kill him.

They had no faith so he could perform no miracles for them. He escaped from their hands and did not return. Mary, too, could no longer live in Nazareth.

Jesus does not force himself on anybody. Do I open my heart to him? Do I just take him for granted?

"Lord Jesus, you are the fulfillment of all our hopes and desires. Your Spirit brings grace, truth, freedom, and abundant life. Set my heart on fire with your love and truth."
